Has anyone heard of Tyler Goodro?

December 6, 2010 9:59 pm

He works at a workout place I go to.  Claims he play minor league ball for the Dodgers. Can anyone verify that or tell me where I can verify that?

Finding minor league info

April 24, 2010 11:32 am

Hello everyone! I am looking for web sites that will help me track player performance in the minor leagues.  perhaps even some analysis to help me learn more about young players and how they are doing. CBS has their hands full with the players in the majors, and I am looking for more info.  Any suggestions?

Position Prospects to watch this spring

November 17, 2009 10:01 pm

This should be an exciting spring to watch rookies as many prospects have a shot to win a big league gig. Here are a few I am going to watch, would love to hear from others who they will be watching.

Obviously Buster Posey, Madison Bumgarner, Alcides Escobar, Brandon Allen, Eric Young, Chris Tillman, and Brian Matusz have a shot at the big club after their late season call-ups, but I will be watching some rookies who have yet to make their big league debut.

C - Carlos Santana (Cle) This guys has been crushing the ball in the minors and is a strong spring away from the majors.
1B - Yoner Alonso (Cin) Barring a monster spring he will go back to the minors, but he is a big league talent who should be up soon.
1B - Justin Smoak (Tex) See above.
1B/OF - Chris Carter (Oak) He will get every opportunity to win a job, if he does a 30 HR rookie campaign is very likely.
2B - Scott Sizemore (Det) A 20/20 talent who will get a long look from the Tigers this spring.
SS - Starlin Castro (ChiN) His stellar AFL campaign puts him in line to compete for the Cubs starting SS job, at 20-years-old.
Util - Todd Frazier (Cin) They have played him everywhere but catcher, his bat is what the Reds love.
3B - Pedro Alvarez (Pit) The best hitter still in the minors, a strong spring will make it impossible for the Pirates to send him back down.
3B - Brett Wallace (Oak) Oakland may be looking to a few rookies in 2010, Wallace being one possibility.
OF - Jason Heyward (Atl) May not be a better hitter than Alvarez right now, but he has the most upside of any minor leaguer.

Madison Bumgarner - SP Giants

September 9, 2009 4:47 pm

Madison Bumgarner looked pretty decent in his major league debut last night.

5.1 innings pitched with 4 K's, 1 BB, 2 ER, and 5 hits.  While he probably finds himself in the bullpen for the rest of the season this guy is a very exciting young prospect.

Giants rotation is going to be super exciting in 2010!

Now they just need some bats...

Brian Matusz - SP Baltimore

August 6, 2009 11:50 am

Brian Matusz made a solid start to his big league career winning against the Tigers and the newly acquired Jarrod Washburn.

Matusz looked a little nervous on the mound uncharacteristically lacking control with 3 walks in 5 innings pitched.  He did however add 5 k's and got himself out of a bases loaded jam in the second inning.

I would suggest he is the best pitching prospect the Orioles have with proven control and strikeout potential.  Matusz pitched well at every level on his way to the big leagues.  This 6 foot 5 inch 200 pound pitcher has a solid 4 pitch arsenal that should succeed at the major leagues.

Baltimore fans may soon find themselves in contention in the American league east with the strength of hitting and pitching talent they're bringing up.
